Linux Mint 9 Isadora KDE is out

The Linux Mint Developers Team have announced the release of the KDE favor of version 9 of the Linux Mint, a popular Ubuntu based Linux distribution. Few months back, the 9th GNOME based Linux Mint 9 code named “Isadora” was released and now it’s out with its KDE edition.

Linux Mint 9 KDE is based on Ubuntu‘s Kubuntu 10.01 LTS (Lucid Lynx) integrated with 4.4.4 KDE desktop and Linux Kernel version 2.6.32. The new KDE edition of Linux Mint features KDE Network Manager, new and updated packages and improved complete overhauled look and feel. The new software manager inspired from Ubuntu Software Center is completely rewritten and handles 30,000+ available applications to choose softwares from. The default blue background gives the desktop a more elegant feel. Alternatively backgrounds can also be obtained from the repository packages “mint-wallpapers-extra”.

Linux Mint 9 (Isadora) KDE

New and updated packages include Amarok Open Source Music Player 2.3.0, Firefox 3.6.6, Thunderbird 3.0.5, Miro and the AcetoneISO CD/DVD image manager application. Additionally a data and software Backup Tool is also included.

Like the GNOME desktop edition this edition includes a complete out-of-the-box experience including support for DVD playback, Java, and various plug-ins and media codecs. Linux Mint 9 [KDE] is a Long Term Support release and will receive updates until April 2013.

Linux Mint 9 KDE is available to download for 32 and 64-bit systems as an ISO image. More details about the release, including a full list of new features, can be found in the release notes and on the What’s new in Linux Mint 9 KDE page.

Linux Mint 9 (Isadora) Fluxbox

OTHER RECENT RELEASE :

Another Linux Mint distro Linux Mint 9 Fluxbox is out. Based on Lubuntu (Light Ubuntu) 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux 2.6.32, Fluxbox 1.1.2 and Xorg 7.6, the distro is currently on its RC release. This new light Linux Mint features Tint2 Panel replacing the default panel.
