Few months ago, Twitter launched Twitter Places, which enabled geo-tagging tweets. And now Facebook, the king of Social Network, is on its way to location based service which is rolling out at a press event tomorrow.
On Wednesday, Facebook’s highly awaited location-based service is finally rolling out. The service which has been under development for quite a while, is a promise made to developers months ago at Facebook’s f8 conference and had highly been rumored to be unveiled months back. The new features for the location based services are not known well, but rumors say it will rather be a complete pack of features which will allow users to ‘check in’ as well as tag posts and photos with their location. More interesting one is an integrable feature with third party services that includes dedicated APIs. This means people will be able to check in with Foursquare, Gowalla and others and show up their activities on Facebook Wall as well.
Geo-tagging, location based services, might be the trending topics at the web. The popularity of location based social media is highly growing, but what has achieved so far is not at its potential favor. Many people do believe that this will take a major lead in future, likely in mobile communications.
As of including this much awaited feature in Facebook, it will be a more complete Social Network as well. What do you think ?
