Few days ago, Indian Human Resource Development minister Kapil Sibal announced the $35 Tablet. Many doubt it is ever possible. NTDV show Gadget Guru has interviewed Sibal himself and have made it clear that it really exists. Some more specs of this tablet has been revealed.

Here are the specifications of the tablet:
- Tablet based on Android OS which is free and open source.
- Wifi and 3G are available
- It has a camera, USB port, Video out and SIM card slots.
- Has 2 GB of RAM
- Hardware seems to be heavy duty with the ability to effectively handle Android OS
- Resistive touch screen (a disadvantage)
- Option to run on solar power
- Has everything that Android has (documents, e-book reader, maps, video players)
- It will be loaded with other educational software as well
The tablet is expected to be released in about 1 year. It will first be available to Indian Students for RS.1500 and will not be in retail market. It may be made available to students in other countries as well. Here’s the hands on video which shows the specifications of the tablet:
