Ubuntu’s Chinese makeover to Win XP

Ever seen an wolf in sheep’s clothings ? Well ! Here it is: Ylmf OS.

No it’s not Windows XP, actually it is an Ubuntu OS, the mighty Debian-based OS. It is actually hacked and transformed by Chinese Pirates to make it look Windows XP and it is done pretty well.

“Why have they moved to Ubuntu? Because their previous release, a pirate version of Windows XP itself is being cracked down on by Microsoft.” as Download Squad explained.

Ylmf OS, that exactly look and feel like Microsoft’s Win XP, is adjusted and innovated based on the users’ experience and usage habits on Win XP with a view that Linux can do as well as Windows through efforts.

The user interface is clean and clear, one can hardly feel few differences while using it. The recent OS is based on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) with core components linux kernel 2.6.32-22.33?xorg 1.7.6?gcc 4.4.3 and Gnome Desktop Environment(2.30.0). Earlier the OS’s GUI was completely in Chinese, but now English Edition is also available. The ISO file can be download at Ylmf.org

Ylmf OS is integrated with Wine, that enable Linux users to run Windows applications without a copy of Microsoft Windows. The system is also enhanced with CompizConfig Settings Manager, ailurus, p7zip, Ndisgtk, Samba, Leafpad, gmount-iso and so on. The OS includes OpenOffice suite 3.2, Firefox, SMPlayer & Audacious music player and Pidgin for instant messaging. The OS is completely designed to be the best clone of Windows XP, and to be easily used like XP with the foundation as Linux.

Surprisingly ! the pirated copycat Ubuntu version of Win XP looks and feel very close to the Microsoft’s Version, more screen-shots are available here. However, its a GUI imitating of Win XP, so there’s a questionable legality on its use.
