swype logoSwype, the faster typing system for touchscreen phones is now available for Symbian S60v5 phones. Swype beta is now available via. Nokia beta labs. Developed by the inventor of T9, Swype allows the users to type by tracing paths rather than tapping the keys.

In the Nokia phones, the Swype keyboard replaces the traditional on-screen QWERTY keyboard in the landscape mode. In the portrait mode, you can switch between the Swype keyboard and the alphanumeric keyboard.

According to Nokia, it woks on Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini. I tried on Nokia 5530 and it worked on it too. So, it may run on all Symbian S60v5 phones. You can install Swype from your SD card or via. PC suite. You need to restart your phone after the installation.

About Swype: Swype allows a user to enter a word by sliding a finger or stylus from letter to letter, lifting only between words. It uses error correcting algorithms and a language model to guess the word intended. It also includes a tapping predictive text system in the same interface.Swype is designed for use on touchscreen devices with a traditional QWERTY keyboard. It is available in Android and Windows mobile phones.

I have used Swype for a while and I was able to type faster with it than the traditional Keyboard. I am quite amazed with its ability to predict words correctly. However, I found some difficulties with typing spaces and special characters.
