As we know the customer preview of Windows 8 is going to release shortly this months and full version of Windows 8 will also ship this year so there is discussion about the support and services of Windows 8 worldwide. Now we are discussing about SkyDrive.

Microsoft introduced its personal cloud file hosting service in 2011. As we see it is not easy syncing with Skydrive with current Windows 7 environment. Now Windows 8 will have good support to Skydrive. Using Skydrive you can easily access files from any computer with Windows 8 or any Web browser. Windows 8 is going to have it metro apps for supporting Skydrive. You can easily drag and drop files to the cloud. Windows Form application will also have easy access to Save and Open file in Skydrive just as browsing local hard drive.

You can have good look by looking video in this link.

Facebook has recently added a new feature in chat-box that lets you to be offline for a single person / group. This handy new feature can help you when you want to end a conversation with someone but still be able to chat with others. There may also be cases when you don’t want someone to know that you are online.

The feature is simple to use. To show yourself offline to a person,
i) Open the chat-box for the person. Then, click on options on top-right of chat-box.
ii) Click on ‘Go offline to [name]‘.
You now will appear offline to him/her but still appear online to others.

Facebook keeps on adding new features often. These handy features are many times not noticed by users. Before this feature, you either needed to appear offline to everybody or to some people by creating groups.

After a year of development, Angry Birds flock is now on facebook.

Rovio created hugely popular game, Angry Birds features its unique version for facebook. Meaning that Angry Birds for facebook is a new adventure for those who have long been on various mobile and desktop platforms. It includes power ups intended to supercharge the birds and pop pigs faster and better than ever before.

“There are four different types of power-ups and they can be accessed via the lightning bolt button at the top of the screen,” Rovio said. “You can use two power-ups per level. All power-ups have a different effect but ultimately make you more competitive against your friends by making your birds stronger or more accurate or even by shaking the earth itself!”

The facebook app is free to play at apps.facebook.com/angrybirds/. It allows players to compete with their facebook friends for high scores, send gifts to friends and achieve more precise and powerful targeting by purchasing new “power-ups”.

Here’s the trailer for the Facebook version,

Angry Birds has been reportedly downloaded more than 700 million with over 15.4 million facebook likes. So it’s highly predictable for its boom on facebook.

Google search has a lot of options. It had recently added the function plotter for those who love Maths. The heart curve has been popular on Facebook and other social media in Valentine season. Here are some beautiful curves which can be plotted on Google search.

The batman curve :

The batman Logo has been derived from a combination of a no. of equations. There is a discussion on Stack Overflow about this curve. Anyway you can plot the logo on Google by simply pasting the following in text area or clicking here.
2*sqrt(-abs(abs(x)-1)*abs(3-abs(x))/((abs(x)-1)*(3-abs(x))))(1+abs(abs(x)-3)/(abs(x)-3))sqrt(1-(x/7)^2)+(5+0.97(abs(x-.5)+abs(x+.5))-3(abs(x-.75)+abs(x+.75)))(1+abs(1-abs(x))/(1-abs(x))),-3sqrt(1-(x/7)^2)sqrt(abs(abs(x)-4)/(abs(x)-4)),abs(x/2)-0.0913722(x^2)-3+sqrt(1-(abs(abs(x)-2)-1)^2),(2.71052+(1.5-.5abs(x))-1.35526sqrt(4-(abs(x)-1)^2))sqrt(abs(abs(x)-1)/(abs(x)-1))+0.9

The heart curve:

This is a function to plot a heart shape. This one is recently popular all over as a Valentine gift from Google. You can plot it by searching the following in Google or clicking here:
sqrt(cos(x))*cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)*(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5

The butterfly curve:

This is not as amazing as above two but gives a shape similar to butterfly. It has two parts, the positive and negative. Here is the function for Butterfly curve. To view all, you may need to zoom out. Click here to view on Google.
-((x^2-x^6)^(1/6)), ((x^2-x^6)^(1/6))

If you know about any other such beautiful functions, notify us via. comments.

The age of shipping huge amount of data via. disks and other physical media is now over. The internet has made a revolution in the way people transfer data from distant places. The Piratebay which has made copying data from a lot easier, now believes “next step in copying will be made from digital form into physical form.”

A real hat which can be downloaded from Piratebay

ThePirateBay have added “Physibles” in torrent category that enables you to download 3D models which can be obtained as real physical objects via. a 3D printer. You can find toys, necklace, stylus, robots on this category.

Not just the toys, the people at piratebay believe that you will be able to download and print other real objects like clothes you can really wear and even food you can eat.

Do you think copying and transferring of real objects like food is possible. Can it be a new revolution that the computer and internet can bring? Share your views.

Facebook have made some of the good changes recently. Facebook have made some of the changes for styling photo viewing experience. Recently Facebook have made a light-box effect for viewing photo on click.

Now Facebook have made its lightbox viewer more stylist by aligning controls to the right side. In fact it is like the google manages photos.

Have a look:

Facebook photo viewer::

Facebook update photo viewer

But google already got same type of photo viewer.

Google photo viewer

Anyway Facebook’s new photo viewer is cool..

Surgical Robotics experts at the University of Washington and the University of California, Santa Cruz have completed a set of seven identical advanced robotic surgery robots, called Raven II, designed for medical research laboratories.

After final testing, five of the systems will be made available to medical robotics researchers at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Nebraska, University of California at Berkeley, and University of California at Los Angeles. Two systems will remain at UC Santa Cruz and UW. Soon the robots will be flocking to university labs across the United States where researchers will be provided the first common open-source research platform to develop the future of surgical robotics.

Raven II Engineering Team | Mary Levin, UW Photography

Raven is a surgical robot which was developed by Blake Hannaford and Jacob Rosen, an associate professor of computer engineering at UC Santa Cruz. Latest moderation of the surgical robot, Raven II includes two robotic arms, a camera for viewing the operational field, and a surgeon-interface system for remote operation of the robot. The two mechanical wing-like arms end in tiny gripper claws designed to perform surgery on simulated patients. The system is powerful and precise enough to support research on advanced robotic surgery techniques, including online telesurgery.

Over providing the surgical robots with an open source platform, Hannaford, the director of the Biorobotics Laboratory at UW said, ”With everyone working on the same platform we can more easily share new developments and innovations.”And Rosen shared, “We decided to follow an open-source model, because if all of these labs have a common research platform for doing robotic surgery, the whole field will be able to advance more quickly.”

Experts are also making the robot’s software compatible with Robot Operating System, a popular open source robotics coding platform. They are also in the process of developing Raven IV surgical robotics platform with four robotic arms and two cameras to enable collaboration between two surgeons working from separate locations, according to reports.

Here’s the video of Raven II in action,

With open sourcing the platform for medical researches, it is sure that it will impact on the medical fields and has got a huge potential in more med-robots with new techniques and instruments.

Raven II engineering team has been posting developments and updates on the surgical robots on their blog. Check out the team at Raven II Development Blog.
